It’s been a mad week for me. As the weekend is approaching (I’ll be needing this one), I wanted to make up for my own lack of time for hobby-stuff by showing off some amazing miniatures from the Lugdunum 2013 convention/competition (?) held in France this week.
The End of Games Day?
This might be old news for you. However, browsing Dakkadakka this morning, I came across a link to a discussion over at Oz Painters collecting rumours that Games Workshop may be cancelling several non-UK/non-US Games Days, including the French one.
The latter would be a real pity. The French Golden Daemon competitions, to me, always stood out even from the many other, also excellent Golden Daemon entries elsewhere due to their quality and innovative take on all things Warhammer. It’d be a pity if Games Workshop would let that fall by the wayside. Just look at those pictures coming out of this weeks Lugdunum 2013 à l’Hexagon.
10 Lugdunum 2013 Miniatures
Anyhow… on to the fantastic miniatures (in no particular order)
#1 – Queen of Hearts
This Queen of Hearts – inspired by the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland – has appeared as the headliner on most coverage on the event. It looks like this is a larger scale miniature.
Fantastic paint-job.
#2 – Space Wolf Bust
Some larger-scale Warhammer 40K Space Wolves goodness!
#3 – Chaos Lord on Spawn
A Chaos Lord riding a (Forge World) spawn. This would be an awesome colour-scheme for a Nurgle army.
#4 – Ghost Rider
The busy background of that picture is unfortunate, but I really love what I see (including that base!).
#5 – Kraken
Another one that looks really awesome, even though I couldn’t find a pic with less “background” or better close-ups. Those sails! The water! The Kraken itself…. I am speechless.
#6 – Morbid Girl
This one is dark. I love it.
#7 – Cool Girl
It’s good that she wears a warm hat and gloves!
Joking aside, this is just an awesome model.
#8 – Orc Rider
I don’t know where this one is from. If you recognize the miniatures (assuming it’s not a massive conversion), let me know. It’s fantastic.
#9 – Wizard
This one feels like a 54mm miniatures. Awesome stuff.
#10 – Soldier Reading
Some near-monochrome goodness at the end. It doesn’t always have to be an action-pose!
