Kingdom Death took Kickstarter by storm. I didn’t even quite realize who I was interviewing when I sent Adam Poots an email with questions some time ago. Since then, I kept an eye open for Kingdom Death miniatures. And I have seen amazing things. I created a Kingdom Death category on PinsofWar.net. If you paint them, feel free to share them there. Here are four amazing examples from KD’s own Fan Painted Miniatures page.
Kingdom Death #1 – “Rotkäppchen”
Beautiful work with colours there. Kingdom Death’s “Twilight Knight Pin-up” painted up as Rotkäppchen (Little Red Riding Hood). Love how the red stands out against the otherwise muted colour-scheme. Wolf’s head is great too.

The Fan Painted Miniatures page over at Kingdom Death doesn’t name the artist, so I cannot really credit him or her. If you know who painted this, let me know and I’ll add it.

Pinups are some of the most controversial miniatures in the Kingdom Death range. I’ve tried to get both sides of the argument for and against a line of sexy miniatures in my article on White Speaker – Nico. There is no doubt, however, that they are also very popular. Yet, perhaps because of the exposed skin, they strike me as very daunting to paint. Maxvon_d certainly did a great job on this Pinup Preacher.

The Wet Nurse is like among the best known Kingdom Death miniatures. It certainly will not feature in the current Kickstarter for Kingdom Death: Monster, mainly due to its explicit nature, I would guess. But it holds a pivotal role for Kingdom Death breaking the mold and standing out from many other boutique miniature companies. Kingdom Death’s “mastermind” Adam Poots said as much in his recent interview with Frontline Gamer.
It honestly started as a hobby, a little side project to pour my thoughts into while working as a full time graphic designer / user interface specialist / concept director…(my professional roles kept changing as I worked on Kingdom Death on the side) up until the release of the Wet Nurse, and the first real explosion of interest went off. I had made significantly more money then I had with my real job in a single month and I had to seriously consider taking on the project full time.
I have been shopping around for a painted version. This one by Aliengod3 from CoolMiniOrNot.com in a Hansruedi “HR” Giger-inspired paint-scheme is certainly a stunning example.
New Fancy Kickstraq Charts
Oh.. and Kicktraq – Kickstarter’s statistic site – have recently added mini-charts that can be embedded on blogs and websites. Pretty neat. Check it out!
Unfortunately, I doesn’t seem as if these embedded mini charts update automatically like the Kickstarter widgets. Maybe they’ll fix that in the near future.
