Mantic’s Kickstarter-drive for the Warpath: Deathzone miniature skirmish game is soon upon us. I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Mantic so far. One thing that is undeniable, however, is that Mantic’s by now a true master of stirring up publicity for their products (on Kickstarter especially).
And they seem to have a whole lot of fun doing it too.
Have a look at Mantic’s latest Twitter-Shenanigans to drum up (viral) attention for the imminent Warpath: Deathzone Kickstarter.
Warpath: Deadzone Kickstarter is Coming April 26
For a start, there is now a Deadzone countdown running (similar to the one they had for DreadBall), which confirms that the Warpath Deadzone Kickstarter will go live on April 26.
That certainly fits with Mantic’s “fake” announcement of Deadzone from April Fools Day.
So far, so good.
The Twitter Mission
Far more fun, Mantic appears to have set up three Twitter accounts (possibly more?), which mimic the communication between different Warpath Corporation units as they foray into space. An expedition that will surely end with the disastrous outbreak of the Plaque for Warpath… the setting for the Warpath: Deadzone game.
Here are the three Twitter accounts I am aware of:
@Corp_Central
Corporation Central - Relay hub for Nexus Sector. Comms provided by Trontek Corporation
Tweets by @Corp_Central
@six_alpha
Explore/Retrieve team Six-Alpha - Nexus Psi, Outpost W4
Tweets by @six_alpha
@Recon_N3
Enforcer Recon Unit N32-19. [//Action log]
Tweets by @Recon_N32
This is masterfully done, Mantic. And great fun.
Hats off!
P.S.:
Oh… before I forget.
As I noted in this post, one of the things a lot of people are looking forward in Mantic’s Warpath Kickstarter are the prospects of (affordable?) 28mm sci-fi plastic terrain.
There’s a teaser-pic for that too!
What do you think?
