Mantic Games are gearing up for their 2nd DreadBall Kickstarter, DreadBall Xtreme. Allegedly, it will launch on February 21st and, if enough funds are raised, push DreadBall through Seasons 4 to 6 and a total of 12 new teams (4 per season).
Moreoever, Mantic Games have launched a (somewhat scarce) preview website and organised a social media treasure hunt for fans to hunt it down.
#1 – Social Media Treasure Hunt
Here’s the original tweet that started the hunt for the preview site.

Solving the puzzle in this picture is, of course, only the first step, but it will surely let you appreciate some of the effort DreadBall fans put into solving the riddle for the final page.
In essence, you’ll need to chase down letters for/from the various social media channels… twice… to build a bit.ly link.
The main reward is a glimpse of DreadBall Xtreme (cover?) art.
#2 – DreadBall Extreme Information
There are also bits and bobs of info on Jake Thornton’s Quirkworthy blog (and Jake’s interviews).
- You pick a team sponsor that allows access to various different players and you have a number of credits to spend to build your team.
- Scoring zones are the same but there are lots of obstacles on the pitch.
- Base game Convicts and Asterians – new Asterian team more brutal than the current one.
- 6-8 new MVPs
- KS will fund new teams that can be used in regular Dreadball as well.
- Possibly 3 new Seasons 4,5,6 – 4 new teams each (12 total) – depends on funding.
- Aiming for 24 teams in total over 6 seasons (not including MA team)
- Dreadball Extreme pitch will be like the Ultimate pitch (mouse pad type) also possible that the original pitch will be done like this as a stretch goal.
Oh, and there’s another neat Twitter preview!
@BlaineReturns The venue is confirmed. FG sent through some images; it’s in the old Sigma complex. Needs some work… pic.twitter.com/DzeFlS43ku

#3 – Thoughts?
Well. Are you ready for another DreadBall Kickstarter?
Personally, it’s moving a tad too fast for me. I don’t think I’ve yet played against all the Season 3 teams. On the other hand, a rubber-mat pitch could be interesting. My old DreadBall board is certainly showing signs of heavy use.
Let me know what you think!
