Escape from Goblin Town: Games Workshop’s The Hobbit Strategy Game Release List Leaked

The Hobbit Strategy Game by Games WorkshopJust yesterday, Games Workshop put up the teaser video for the Hobbit Strategy Battle Game. In true Games Workshop teaser fashion, it was utterly devoid of information. Considering their Crusade of Fire sneak-release, one simply has to acknowledge that they are getting good at keeping their secrets. Alas, words about what might be released for the Hobbit has now (possibly) leaked via The Last Alliance.

Escape from Goblin Town Limited Edition: 100€ (56 figures!)
Hobbit Rulebook: 65€ (288 pages)
Hobbit Paint Set: 35€
Custom Figure Case: 50€
The White Council: 60€ (4 fig box)
The Trolls: 65€ (3 figure box)
Goblins of the Misty Mountains: 30€ (18 figure box)
Goblin Town: 45€ (scenery set?)
Hunter Orcs: 30€ (12 fig box)
Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs: 35€ (6 fig box)
Bolg: 20€ (clampack)
Narzug: 15€ (clampack)
Goblin Captain: 13€ (clampack)
Fimbul the Hunter (ft & mtd): 35€

Everything is plastic except the clampacks and the White Council. Yes, the Trolls are plastic.

I cannot tell you how good or reliable this information might be. It certainly looks fairly legit, down to the now inevitable Limited Edition Box (I am rather surprised there is no Limited Edition and/or collector’s version of the rule book).

And “Escape from Goblin Town” makes sense as far as that is the spot on the map where Games Workshop’s Teaser Trailer zooms in towards the end. Here’s the teaser again for references.

The upside is of course – as mysterious and vague as it is now – we’ll all know by the coming weekend. The real applause should go to the Games Workshop secrecy squad.

Still, as a long-time fan of Tolkien’s books, I am looking forward to see what Games Workshop is pulling out of their hat for The Hobbit. While the list above (assuming it is largely on the mark) promises a fairly beefy release, I am also hoping the will release a bit more in the future. Surely there is enough material in the book (spread thin to fully three movies now) to add a bit more padding to this line.

      Those are the Euro Prices. But still, more expensive than Dark Vengeance by a fair bit.

        My bad my brain processed that as a pound sign for some reason…must have been tired. Not as bad as I thought then…Wonder if it will breach the $200AUD Dark Crusade got to $185AUD…

          It is still fairly expensive. The US/Canada price version has also been floating around the internet
