Imperial Guard Bullgryns and Commissar

OfficioPrefectusCommissar_Slot3

The third (and presumably last?) week of Imperial Guard releases arrived. Games Workshop put the latest additions to the newly named Astra Militarum up for pre-order: new plastic Ogryns, which also build close-combat Bullgryns, and a plastic Commissar.

#1 – Officio Prefectus Commissar

Standing proud amid the blood and thunder of the front lines, a battle-scarred Commissar sets an unfaltering example to the men he leads. To the masses of humanity, these men are symbols of Imperial authority whose sole remit is to ensure that all do their duty in the Emperor’s name.

This kit makes one plastic Officio Prefectus Commissar who can be equipped with either a bolt pistol or plasma pistol at the end of his bionic right arm and while his left hand wields a power sword.

Most notably, it appears the price for single plastic characters once again inched up slightly. They used to by £12.00, if I am not mistaken. The new Commissar is priced at £12.50 RRP.

#2 – Bullgryns / Ogryns

Astra Militarum Bullgryns

The abhumans known as Bullgryns are a formidable sight to behold. Clad in custom-made carapace armour made from the discarded tracks of a Leman Russ, they carry crude assault weaponry that capitalises on their stature and resilience.

This multi-part plastic kit makes 3 Bullgryn miniatures which can be armed with either grenadier gauntlets and slab shields or battle mauls and suppression shields. Why not make one Bullgryn into a Bone ‘ead? These natural leaders have distinctive metal plated heads so they really stand out in the unit.

To spice things up between the Militarum Tempestus and the Astra Militarum, we now get the Militarum Auxilia Bullgryns! No Militarum Auxilia Codex in sight though, as far as I can see.

The box of Bullgryns / Ogryns builds three miniatures for £28.50 RRP.

Considering they are getting rid of Failcast.. they need to make teh money up somehow.. like the £12.50 commissar and the (min) £72.50 Space Marine Captains (£60+ to get the first and voucher + i am guessing £12.50 as is the new clamshells)

I do like the Bullgryns set, but the “carapace from tracks” is an ork thing.. these “armed from spare parts” is a little silly in imperial guard.
