There are many new miniatures and new games are now presented at Gen-Con. And the leaks of GW’s upcoming starter-box are stirring discussion all over the internet despite not being at Gen-Con. One of the smaller producers unveiling new miniatures at Gen Con is Kingdom Death. I believe I have written before on how conflicted I am with Kingdom Death’s work. But at their best, they are without doubt some of the best sculpts and most breathtaking models that are out there.
Limited Releases: Illuminated Lady & Kings Hand
Two limited releases have been published by Kingdom Death on their Facebook page. The first, which is certain to again stir some controversy is the Illuminated Lady.
The Illuminated Lady appears to survivors hopelessly lost in the darkness. A nude figure glowing softly by the light of her lantern, other lanterns grow dim as she nears. Her presence fills survivors with comfort and serenity and she will guide them into the darkness never to be found again. Some joke meeting her is a kinder end than most.
As always, their luxurious product offering with each of their miniatures is equally astounding.
More sinister (and yet, thanks to his lack of nudity, likely controversial) is the other limited release: Kings Hand.
The Kings Hand are the King’s highest ranking guard. They see through the eyes of every Kingsmen that patrols the King’s territory. The Hands are highly intelligent master swordsmen.
Unlimited Release: Architect Pinup
The unlimited release is the Architect Pinup, a re-imagination of their original Architect for the infamous “pinup-line” Kingdom Death produces.
Some more Gen-Con Exclusives?
This is already, by Kingdom Death standards, a sizable release. But Kingdom Death does have more up their sleeve. They tease us with two mystery miniatures: the “Twilight Knight” and the “Forge God”.
The last of these, according to a picture posted on Bell of Lost Souls, will probably look disturbingly like this:
Not really sure what to make of this last one. Without a doubt, it will be a massive miniature.
Interested in Kingdom Death? The Illuminated Lady would certainly be a nice project for someone trying to master light-source paining.
