Honestly. No clue.

My memories start with very late 2nd Edition at best. Everything before that is google-fu for me.

If someone finds out, it’d be interesting to hear though.

So, re: “moved to plastic”, there seemed to be more plastic miniatures (plastic guardsmen, plastic space marines, plastic orks, plastic squats, original Rhino, Land Raider, and Predator) in the late Rogue Trader era than in the early-mid part of 2nd edition (which saw the former kits pulled and the rise of the IMHO awful metal/plastic “composite” kits like the mkII Predator, the Razorback, and the Whirlwind).
Does anyone have insight into why this was?

The 2nd Edition one was the best looking. Zweischneid has a great idea in retro Forge World speeders.

i do like the land speeder storm, it looks really cool. The second ed one looks great too (but was a pain to build)

Yeah. It’s got a fairly unique look going for it. I wonder if Forge World might throw in a retro-speeder for their HH line at one point.

small as it is by ‘modern’ 40K standards I still think it looks the best
