Occasionally, I post short summaries of giveaways and contests out there in our little world of miniatures and tabletop wargaming. Partly, because I remember how tough it was to spread the word during my own little painting contest in October. Partly, because I like to win free stuff! Karma, vigilance or simple luck paid off. Yesterday I won a still-in-sculpting witch miniature from Norsgard!
Norsgard?
Norsgard – or SeaDragon Miniatures (?) – is a young, up-and-coming miniature company (from Poland, I believe). They produce some amazing miniatures and, more recently, the miniatures game Norsgard to go with them.
SeaDragon Miniatures offers miniatures for both gamers and collectors of beautiful models. For many years I have been both a player and a collector of all kinds of miniatures. By creating Norsgard, I wanted to return to the times when many of us read the tales of the Vikings and finally transfer them to the world of miniatures.
Rules created for the game are meant to be fun and to create a balanced system that is easy to learn while allowing for a wide range of strategies and requiring thought, not just luck, to be victorious.
Although I wrote at the beginning that this is a one man’s dream, without the support of friends – both old and new – making it reality would be extremely difficult. For the help that each and every one of them gave me, I want to thank them!
See you in the land of ice and fire – Isbran!
Norsgard’s ‘Name the Witch’ Contest
The week before Christmas, Norsgard announced their first ever contest to name the beautiful witch miniature they’ve currently sculpting for their line of miniatures.
We still need a name for first undead witch!!! Give her the name and if we will choose it than you will get this miniature for free in Janaury 2013!!! What’s more if Norsgard will reach more than 300 likes on the Facebook you can also get a chance to win a copy of this miniature!
Her name will be Valdis. And no, I didn’t send in this particular name. Unlike DreadBall’s “Locust City Chiefs”, it wasn’t my skill in finding names that got me the prize.
I was “simply” one of the runner ups for this great miniature. Of course, extra kudos and thanks needs to go to Norsgard for running a competition that rewards not only the right name, but also gives everyone a shot at the prize by trying!
I am greatly looking forward to this miniature. The lady will receive a spot of honour, both on my shelf and in my new-years painting vows (along with the fantastic Druid-Gone-Wilder)!
Many, many thanks Norsgard. You guys (and girls?) are awesome!
