Space Marines iTunes Codex with Army Builder Function

It appears that the new Space Marines Codex departs from established patterns in a few ways.

For a start, the Codex (in paper) has a lot more pages, will cost 5 quid more than previous Codex books for 6th Edition 40K, and comes with a record number of 7 Limited Edition covers.

On top of that, Games Workshop seems to have a few for the iTunes version of the Codex as well to lure people to the iSide of things. It appears the iTunes Space Marines Codex will have an army builder function, allowing you to make lists straight from (in) the Codex.

#1 – Space Marines Codex Army Builder Function

Space Marines Codex Army Builder Function

About this edition:
The Enhanced Edition of Codex: Space Marines contains a range of interactive features unique to iBooks including:
- Narrated audio sections
- Quick-links to special rules
- Citadel Miniatures gallery featuring 360 ° shots of key units.
Plus this is our first codex to contain our new interactive collection manager Force Requisition – a handy tool to help you assemble your army ready for battle.

#2 – Are You Ready for an iCodex?

I am still one of the cavemen without an iPad in my possession. That said, from what I read, I am impressed with the effort Games Workshop is putting into these things. The iCodexes truly seem to be coming into their own with loads of interesting features.

What do you think?

Do you have a 40K Codex for your iDevice already? Would you be tempted by features like an Army Builder (or a narrated audio section, lol)?

Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Actually, yeah, the built in army list builder is kinda handy. And since the digital version is cheaper, if I am not mistaken, I would be more inclined to purchase it. If, of course, I could actually bring myself to buy an Apple product.

When GW discover the existence of Google and Android?

  • Xander S Cosgrave

I feel that the whole Apple love on their part is a bit annoying, I can’t get them on my Android products, so saying that the Builder is great is fine, but I am annoyed by the fact that I can’t access it.

Thats not actually GW’s fault though to be fair, there just isn’t an equivalent to the interactive iBooks on Android (apart from a few individual apps which isn’t the same thing) and the next best is the usual ebooks which they do now produce.

Until Google pull their finger out and give us a similar system we will be stuck with the non interactive versions without all the bells and whistles I’m afraid.

it is an awesome idea, and a sneaky way to get around making an army builder app, plus narrated fluff is awesome (i’m a big audiobook fan) but alas no i products here (embedded in the windows environment)

I’m actually going to have to give up my Nexus I’m just sick of apps with half the functionality of their Ipad counterpart when you can find them at all.

If it’s built in the with the Dex and they don’t charge 50$ extra for it I’d be tempted to try with the November codex.

Im curious if you’ll be able to customize the unit titles at all, or if it’s going to be a flat generic list. Either way, it’ll be a super handy tool. It was a deciding factor in my buying the digital version.
