True. I was exaggerating a bit.

Still, just head over to the Golem Arcana Kickstarter and look at the sheer amount of miniatures, graphics, short stories, game-play videos, twitch.tv marathon-sessions, etc.. to get that 500.000 USD,

The effort that has been put into GA is just insane.

At an exchange rate of about 1.4:1 £:$ that’s not twice as much, but yes, Gates of Anteres was poorly run, which was a shame.

You should watch the marathon Golem Arcana gameplay video they’ll be putting up, which ran for 7 hours during the last day of the Kickstarter. Though, it took me sitting down to play the game at GenCon to believe in it, but once I did…I was sold. It does solve a number of issues that I feel people will pick up on, once they get over the stigma of so many past failures by other companies that any effort along these lines gets dismissed offhand as a gimmick. This is a good game, and the tech elements work as intended. It’s no gimmick.

Well, Gates of Antares wanted nearly twice as much… 500.000 GBP vs. 500.000 USD.

But yes, there was a huge difference between the two in the overall “mood” that prevailed in the comments (forums, etc..) and in the amount of excitement and the “we’re giving everything, we’re not giving up” attitude the creators were able to bring across.

It is an interesting concept, but I’d want to try it before I bought it. Also perhaps a few people felt that this was a crossover concept that addressed a need that didn’t exist. Regardless of that, it is interesting to see that they squeezed through in the end – on a target about the same as Antares…
