Warhammer Fantasy Dark Elf Rumours

Warhammer Fantasy Battle Dark Elves Rumours

The guys of 40K Radio have proven to be a major source of early information for the new Space Marines releases. Now they are offering up information about the next release, allegedly for October 2013 (does that contradict the “Mystery Box Rumours“?).

Either way, here is their word on the Dark Elves. If they are as spot-on as the Space Marines information, Dark Elves will be here in a month!

#1 – 40k Radio Dark Elves Rumours

NEW RUMORS for Warhammer Fantasy! My “source” has sent me pictures of the new Dark Elf release. The Dark Elves will be out in October with a slew of new models:

1) NEW Plastic Dark Elf Warrior Box(Makes Spearmen, swordsmen, & crossbowmen)
2) NEW Plastic Dark Riders/Warlocks
3) NEW Plastic Blackguard/Executioners
4) NEW Plastic Coldone Chariot/Scroungerunner(Pulled by horses)
5) NEW Plastic Cauldron of Blood/Blood Throne(This model is AMAZING)
6) NEW Plastic Hydra/Kraken
7) NEW Plastic Witch Elf box

This will be a huge release and the Dark Elves will be the best looking Fantasy army, IMHO. These models are breathe [sic!] taking and Dark Elf fans will have their minds blown!

#2 – Thoughts?

It’s coming blow upon blow from Games Workshop. I am neither a Dark Elves, nor a Warhammer Fantasy Battle expert.

If you know more than me to judge the likelihood of these rumours, let me know in the comments below!

The dark elves need some love. The proportion of the older plastic warrior kits are horrendous. Huge hands.

    • thorfinskullsplitter1

Exactly, all the high elf armies I currently see use the spear men from island of blood box..who is still buying the ham fisted high elf spearman which are terrible models in comparison to the new sexy Sea guard models..I bought two Island of blood just for the SG command, then ordered a ton of SG from GW web site and ta-da, two forty man units of SG in the new SEXY.

“4) NEW Plastic Coldone Chariot/Scroungerunner(Pulled by horses)” isn’t that contradictory? Either it’s pulled by coldones, or by horses….. I can’t see it having both in the box…

    • http://pinsofwar.net/ Zweischneid

It seems a bit wasteful, but not improbably. The new Warriors of Chaos Chariot comes with options for either two horses or one Gorebeast.

This could be similar. A smallish Chariot pulled by one (perhaps slightly oversized) Cold One and a variant pulled by two Horses.

    • thorfinskullsplitter1

reference warriors of chaos chariot if still confused..one chariot pulled by two horses, the other pulled by, whatever it is. Very possible. People, I think, have to get over pre conceptions of what GW used to do, and what theyre doing now. I like the new GW a lot more.

    • Matt Charman

Nah mate, shouldn’t be a problem for them. Remember the chaos chariot, or the High Elf one with horses and lions? (I admit that I’m desperately hoping all of these are true and may thus be overeager to endorse these ideas)

  • Martin

No new release. NONE. except Space Marines (Because Space Marines sell so damn much) Have ever gotten updated core models. No fantasy release since the hardcover books came out got updated core models, or new models added to their core as a choice. Dark Elves will most likely not see any changes to their core, period.

    • http://pinsofwar.net/ Zweischneid

True. Good point. And the size of this Dark Elf release seems to dwarf the Space Marine one too.

It seems too much to be true and it breaks the established pattern for Fantasy releases.

Than again, Space Marines broke some patterns for 40K releases. And some 10 months ago, I would’ve said that GW will NEVER release more than 2-3 Codexes/Army Books a year. ;)

They clearly are in an experimentation phase, playing around with release schedules, sizes, sequences, etc.. , so I wouldn’t necessarily expect pre-2013 patterns to hold up.

is it possible it was just a communcation error?
theres no way i believe dark evles would be getting a new warrior sculpt.
but i could easily believe theyd be getting a re-cut to up the box set to 20 guys.
Even then, this still looks like slightly too large release for me to believe it.

        • http://pinsofwar.net/ Zweischneid

          Sure it is possible.

40KRadio claims to have the pictures though.

          • thorfinskullsplitter1

Yea, and I heard explicitly from people that there is NO WAY space marines were getting plastic stern guard and Van Guard. People were adamant that the established GW business model couldn’t allow for these kits to ever exist..WELL, guess who doesn’t know what the fuck they were talking about. Maybe, Just maybe, boxes of the models listed above have been sitting in warehouses never moving and someone figured out that people wont buy ugly models that are in some cases, older than they are.

          • Jeff

They also Claim that Romeo Flip s a nice guy…anyone who has seen him in action knows better.

Seriously take anything 40K Radio says with a pound or two of salt.

          • http://pinsofwar.net/ Zweischneid

I will, though that is true for any rumour I suppose.

Their Space Marines Codex information seems to have been pretty good, so for now I’ll have to assume their “source” is fairly legit.

    • Moriartis

What are you talking about? Daemons got Plaguebearers and Horrors. Orcs and Goblins got plastic Savage Orc Boys. Empire got new archers/huntsmen. Warriors of Chaos got plastic marauder horsemen and Forsaken.

You can debate whether or not they should have redone certain core choices(High Elves and Tomb Kings come to mind and that’s not even getting into 40k), but to say they haven’t redone any of them is just flat out false.

  • Joe Rogers

Until we see pictures we cannot know. If they have pictures I don’t know why we can’t see them.

    • http://pinsofwar.net/ Zweischneid

Well, because they are a podcast.

They have no interest in showing the pictures. If they post them, they’d be all over the internet in 0.1 seconds, and that’s that.

If they don’t show em, people will eagerly await their next podcast to hear them talk and muse and awe over these very same pictures (+ all the sponsor-announcements).

To be fair, if I had a podcast instead of a blog, I’d probably do it just the same.

And if their source is genuine, the very fact that they are a podcast, not a blog or forum that shows of pictures first chance, is what might make them an attractive destination to leak to.

    Funky Rumours from Warseer:
    ———-
so it’s clear now, that DE will be released during two months. October we will have warrior, witch elves, blood throne, Kharibdyss (dont know what is it), and a plastic shadowblade.
as we can see GW has put bg, chariot and dark riders to next month along with innocence(the 40K table game,i’m 95% certain that it will be in November). for good reason we can split our money to two months. that’s really kind.
    for the price:
    shadowblade, £12
    warrior,£20
    witch,£35
    throne,£45
    kha…balabalabala,£40
