5 Fantastic Miniatures From Games Day Germany 2013

August 11th was the date of this years Games Workshop Games Day Germany.

Though it appears Games Workshop did not reveal any new miniatures on this Games Day (such as.. well… Space Marines), the internet is overflowing with all sorts of awesome and inspiring pictures from this years Golden Daemon competition in Germany.

By far the best, most comprehensive Games Day coverage you’ll ever find will be over on Masterminis.net and Farabit.it. Be sure to check them out.

Here’s a small teaser of 5 fantastic miniatures from the event in Cologne!

And The Slayer Sword Goes To…

… Roman Lappat of Massive Voodoo fame, for an appropriately massive Tyranid diorma featuring over 120 miniatures!

Award Winning Diorma

I’ve seen glimpses of the entire massive thing over on Masterminis’ Games Day Pre-Report (be sure to subscribe there for the full in-depth coverage).

We’ll probably have to wait for some quality photography by GW (or Massive Voodoo) to truly appreciate the whole thing.

That said, all of the miniatures above would be (in my humble opinion) worthy Golden Demon winners!

Congratulation to Roman for winning this one!

Hey Zweischneid! Thanks for sharing some of the pics!

It’s amazing that the competition in some categories was so hard that some of the pics you posted did not even get a finalist pin (namely the grot fighter, which I loved!)
Monster was insane, Duell and Open followed right behind that. The cancellation of GD France and Spain got us the pleasure of having our friends here for GD Germany. Over 60 of us met the night before for food, drinks and general nerdiness :D

To answer your question: I really liked Roman’s epic diorama. Absolute sword-worthy in my opinion. The best paintjob for me was Mo’s Goblin wizard (WHFB Single), followed by Volomirs Dragon Prince and LoLer’s Demon Prince.

Unfortunately, GW had moved the GD room into a room where one side would give horrible reflection on the glass, the other side was drenched in backlight. So it was hard to see some of the details very well.

Well, too bad Games Workshop is taking a long time to show them off on their own site, and often only one or two miniatures.

Takes even longer for them to show up on http://demonwinner.free.fr/ , so we need intrepid reports who defy all obstacles!!

We are still waiting on the GD Germany 2012 coverage in WD mag… never came :D

With regards to demonwinner… we might be working on that ;) Possibly maybe :D
