Fantasy Flight Games X-Wing is going from strength to strength. Last year, ICv2 reported X-Wing as the 2nd-best-selling miniature-game out there (in the stores reporting to ICv2), leaving the former runner-up to Warhammer 40K, Privateer Press, far behind.
That streak is only going to continue for FFG. On GenCon 2013, they revealed some stunning new additions to the game, which will take X-Wing to whole new… dimensions: The Tantive IV “Blockade Runner”, the “Rebel Transport” and a variant X-Wing will be released in early 2014, along with a new “Epic” tournament format that incorporates these new, massive ships.
#1 – The New X-Wing Ships from GenCon
#2 – Pre-Painted Prices
According to GenCon the Rebel Transport will cost (RRP) US$ 59.95. That Tantive IV will cost (RRP) US$ 89.95.
That is a lot of dough for a single pre-painted model, however nice it may be. X-Wing the Miniatures Game, after all, was only released by FFG at GenCon 2012!
What do you think?
- Have you played X-Wing yet?
- If so, do you think the game will hold up to larger space ships like the Tantive IV?
- If so, is there scope for even larger (Imperial) models for this game?
- Or, is X-Wing the Miniatures Game reaching the limits of where it can go?
