Ever since I received my Imperial Aces box, I’ve experimented with TIE Interceptors. Mostly, it’s been painfully humiliating.
Squadrons with just 3 blinged-out Interceptors aren’t (so far) doing it for me. Probably due to my lack of piloting skills. So am trying 2 “Aces” and 3 Academy Pilots are red shirt escorts.
Anyhow, long story short, here’s a little list I hope to try tonight (possibly adjusted for comments, if you have some insights to share.
#1 – An Imperial Aces Squadron
Squadron | Points |
TIE Interceptors (aka “the Aces”) | |
Soontir Fel + Push the Limit & Targeting Computer | 32 |
Royal Guard + Push the Limit & Stealth Device | 28 |
Tie Fighters | |
Backstabber | 16 |
Academy Pilot | 12 |
Academy Pilot | 12 |
Total | 100 |
#2 – Thoughts?
I am intrigued by the option to add a Target Lock with the Targeting Computer. It should play nicely off Soontir Fel and his occasional free Focus Token.
A Royal Guard Pilot with some nice tools gives me a good excuse to fly a red TIE Interceptor.
The TIE Fighters are there to make maneuvering more difficult for my opponent, with Backstabber in particular (hopefully) presenting them with some tough choices when my TIEs and TIE Interceptors swarm out.
Of course, I could also downgrade Backstabber to a regular Academy Pilot, which would allow me to turn the red TIE Interceptor into a named pilot, that is either Carnor Jax (likely) or Kir Kanos (less so) to keep it red. Worth a though.
Let me know what you think?
If you’ve had some success with the Imperial Aces (e.g. owning just one box… can’t build a 4 Royal Guard spam-list), let me know!
