7 Golden Demon Entries from the US Games Day 2013

Below you’ll find a selection of 7 miniatures from the Golden Demon miniature painting competition at Games Workshop’s US Games Day 2013 in Memphis last weekend.

These pictures were taken from the Golden Demon photo gallery by bcocanour.

I cannot tell you where these miniatures placed (except for one). I presume there will be an official update from Games Workshop at some point. I merely picked pictures that I liked. Enjoy!

#1 – Seeker of Slaanesh

Golden Demon US Games Day 2013 Daemonette

Probably my favourite. Fantastic Seeker of Slaanesh with a great banner. I may be biased though, as this looks like a professional shot in a light box, not a snap-shot from the event itself (?)

#2 – Tzeentch Sorcerer

Sorcerer of Tzeentch

Since we’re talking Chaos, this wonderful little miniature.

#3 – Knight of the Empire

Golden Demon US 2013 Knight

A knight beset by squigs. I really love narrative pieces such as this one.

#4 – Purple Space Marine

Golden Demons 2013 US Purple Space Marine

Can’t have a Golden Demon without some Warhammer 40K Space Marines!

This one might be 54mm. Or it might simply be brilliant. Or both!

#5 – Space Marine Diorama

Golden Demon 2013 Space Marines Diorama

A great little Space Marines diorama.

#6 – Vilitch the Curseling

Warriors of Chaos Vilitch the Curesling

Did I mention that there seems to be lots of Chaos? A wonderful version of Vilitch the Curseling, one of the new characters for the Warriors of Chaos.

#7 – Orc Rogue Idol

Warhammer Forge Orc Rogue Idol 2013 Slayer Sword Winner

Last but not least, this take on Forge World’s Rogue Orc Idol with a nice wooden mask.

I said I didn’t know the placings of the six miniatures above. This one, however, is said to be the Slayer Sword winner from the 2013 US Games Day (I’d love for somebody to confirm this).

The picture is probably not good enough to appreciate it as the Slayer Sword winning miniature that it is. That said, it’s a cool piece nonetheless. The howdah, the mask and other wooden bits are great additions to the otherwise rather plain model from Forge World Warhammer Forge.

Thoughts?

Which one of the above is your favourite?

Have you seen other pictures from the US Games Day painting competitions (or been there yourself)?

      Good spot.

I was wondering what was so “different” about it.

      It’s not 54mm after all ;)

  • Warrior Warlock

Wow, these are some amazingl painted miniatures. I would hate to have to rank them. Great to see some proper blended highlighting rather than th edge highlighting ive seen so much of the past few years. I like the narrative of the knight as well, but feel the colouring of th horse is too much like th armour. If i had to pick a favourite id pick the tzeentch sorceror, because im a sucker for nmm. But all of them are gorgeous in their own right.

  • Blue Table Painting

Rogue Idol for sure. That got me a bit inspired.

Anyone else notice the almost horn thing on the seeker riders banner is on the opposite side of the actual seeker riders head? This is bothering me way to much, distracting on a great model

    • Knight_of_Infinite_Resignation

perhaps its a picture of her mum?

  • Tyler Mengel

thats my space marine diorama :) It only got an honorable mention though

Well, It is very cool ;)

I wasn’t at the Games Day myself unfortunately and getting info on placements, etc.. is rather difficult.
