Games Workshop has been getting ready for Christmas for a while now with some big-bundle-deal boxes (6 Broadsides and a Riptide anyone?), the Citadel Ultimate Paint set and other goodies. Now, there’s a list of the things that are yet to come with next weeks White Dwarf.

Moreover, there’s a new Games Workshop teaser video on YouTube for (presumably) Warhammer 40K Escalation and/or Stronghold Assault.

#3 – Thoughts

Certainly an interesting mix.

  • A smattering of Hobbit releases, but actually fewer than I might have thought. An Orlando Bloom Legolas plastic clampack though ;)
  • Space Marines Ultimate Edition? 250 USD? I guess the regular Limited Editions of the Space Marines Codex sold exceptionally well! It’ll be interesting to see what they put in there to entice people to buy a ~200 quid Codex book!
  • Warhammer 40K Escalation (super heavies, it is rumoured?) and Stronghold Assault, mixing up your 40K game a bit.
  • A similar “something” for Warhammer Fantasy in the shape of Sigmars Blood. Unlike the two above, this one will be available as a Limited Edition too, and comes with a hardback novel (novella?). Quite a package!
  • A wider (?) release of ADB’s Aurelian… the Horus Heresy marches on!

    Does anyone actually play the hobbit or lord of the rings..i remember the intro game the red shirts used to try and get people to play but no one ever bought anything..

      There must be enough of us out here to make it profitable. Then again at those prices maybe there aren’t that many of us after all.

        40k and fantasy are expensive and still very popular..30k is selling so I dont think its the cost.

      At my first club, everyone played LotR. That was about 10 years ago now though.

      Don’t know anyone else who plays the hobbit, except GW staff.

    I’m pretty freaking excited for Escalation. I’m a tad disappointed that they don’t seem to release any new superheavy units though. A Tyranid monstrosity, A daemon beast even a cool space marine tank would have been perfect candidates for this release, but oh well :p

        I agree the FellBlade is one awesome tank.I’m a Nid player though it be pretty freaking scary if my dudes learned how to use a tank like that :) .But, I was talking more along the lines of a GW release in plastic not a Forgeworld one (as cool as the may be).

    What’s the source of that list? I was expecting a Hobbit Starter box.
    Also, I feel that Barrels out of Bond is a Hobbit item – given that escaping bonds with barrels is something that happens in the story!
