New Citadel Tools from Games Workshop (and Selling Fast!)

Citadel Tools

With the Astra Militarum release apparently completed, and (presumably) Wood Elves in the pipeline, Games Workshop is putting in a release of Hobby Tools this week.

Shiny new clippers, knifes, drills, and similar goodies to work away on your miniatures. I must admit, the red-metal “pro-tool” look is shiny. These aren’t cheap though. Not cheap at all!

#1 – New Citadel Hobby Tools

#2 – Hobby Tool Range & Prices

  • Citadel Mouldline Remover – GBP 10,-
  • Citadel File Set – GBP 12,-
  • Citadel Knife – GBP 15,-
  • Citadel Sculpting Tool Set – GBP 15,-
  • Citadel Drill – GBP 16,-
  • Citadel Fine Detail Cutters – GBP 18,-

Funny enough, most of the stuff already shows up as “no longer available”, minutes after the launch, selling out (?) as fast as the Void Shield Generator did a few weeks back.

Citadel Tools

I am not sure if this is a limited release, or if they will get restocked.

Let me know what you think!

Z.

Update:

The “complete set” at the very least is limited to 1000,- worldwide…. and apparently gone (in the UK at least).

Citadel Tools

Limited to 1000 boxes and only available in Games Workshop stores and independent retailers.

This sturdy canvas tool wallet is perfect for storing and safely transporting your complete set of Citadel tools.

So the other tools are limited too? The knife is no longer available in UK store…

  • sin of damnation

the knife cannot be shipped therefore is in store only, these are not limited edition

    • dracion

Its part of their rules and regulations since the new website launched.

    • geektinker

Since when can knives not be shipped? I routinely receive knives that I have purchased online, including hobby knives and tool knives that are very similar to the one featured in this set. That just doesn’t make any sense.

      • sin of damnation

lifted straight from the games workshop site

‘Games Workshop takes selling knives to minors seriously so does not sell these products on line. If you wish to purchase this product then please go to your nearest Games Workshop store or local stockist. Please be prepared to prove your age.’

          Fair enough. My mistake.

        • geektinker

So its not actually that “knives can’t be shipped”, but rather that Games Workshop doesn’t have the balls to ship them. You know, because so many minors out there have credit cards to order them with. I guess it is something to see GW worried about being sued after little Jonny lops off a finger of stabs his sister with a hobby knife.

People know these exact tools can be gotten far cheaper from other sources and from companies based on in all countries (So no shipping issues for anyone) so how do they sell out so fast?!

    • Scuzgob

      they look cool

  • Boondox

Another cash grab by the GW empire aimed at anyone foolish enough to be impressed by the Citadel logo on tools that are commonly available at much cheaper prices. I’m willing to bet the Citadel knife has proprietary sized blades only available at GW stores aimed at increasing visits since they have the ridiculous policy about not shipping them. From reading an earlier article on the drill it seems that it can only use the 3 sizes of bits supplied with the kit. Although I could have read that wrong but I wouldn’t put it past them.
