Warhammer 40K 7th Edition FAQs Arrive

Frequently Asked Question

Games Workshop’s Black Library website updated all the FAQs for Warhammer 40K in light of 7th Edition.

There is a complete download (zip file), as well as individual FAQs for the different Codex books.

I am still a bit confused as to why Black Library is the shepard of FAQs these days, but at least there are here. From a first look, they seem very thorough (or at least, very detailed, especially in the case of older books such as Dark Eldar).

    from the two armies i play, the FAQ’s have changed nothing besides update to 7th.

    Though Sternguard in an Unbound army with Kantor have the same buff as battleforged..

    so i expect to see more turn up.. especially if they score and cant be contested

    CSM looks great compared to Nids.

      Nids suck more, but that is beside the point. There are still no redeeming factors to salvage the CSM with. CSM now has no flyers that are playable. The vector strike nerf was enough to make them not too good, the drakes I mean. Now, since they can only shoot forward, they can not fly + their killing power is exactly 3 marines per round = they are easy targets with little or no effect to the field of battle. It’s like giving the enemy 170p handicap per drake.

      Ya I’m really not happy about that. I mean did GW even think about Shadow In the Warp when they made this thing? I guess if we get a 7th edition codex (which now seems likely) that’ll be rectified. Warlord traits already suck, so I’m not really going complain about that FAQ, I always just use the rulebook traits.

      shadows in the warp now gives you a -3 leadership bubble on all enemy psykers. which is great for killing people with the horror and psychic scream.

    From what I can tell with the new faqs is that all of the older codex’s (paper back), psykers can no longer generate their powers from their codexs and must generate them from the rule book now. I belve that this will badly nerf the alredy out of date paper back codexs.

        aye true, that wouldn’t be a big deal….if I wasn’t currently in the middle of a campaign with my wolves and using my rune priest quite a lot

          if your in the middle of a campaign use the rules your started with. your not being forced to change.

    6th edition SUCKED! 7th is WORSE! The FAQS are HORRIBLE!!!
    Fire Jervis Jhonson already. He has been ruining GW games since 5th edition.

      Are you kidding me? The GK have so many anti psyker utilities, e.g. Draigo’s sword kills psykers instantly if a wound is inflicted. Plus the huge plus for GK… Hammerhand is now +2 S meaning every Psyker model now has +2 S assuming they pass their Psykic test.

        While you mention (2) aspects that we already had in 6th edition and before these FAQ’s you miss out on what GK had to give up. Driago could always kill a pysker/deamon out right unless it has eternal warrior S10 force weapon re-roll that you couldnt DTW to once he inflicted 1 wound so even tyranids did not like that guy. Now you get to roll against the force weapon activation. Hammerhand was +1 but it could be increased to +4 with the proper characters and powers allocated to the scheme, now its just +2 and no further.Our minus are that any one can DS on top of us now with drop pods/spores or 6″ DS units and render GK harm with psyhic powers and then shooting. Aegis is now a re-roll of 1 on DTW and reinforced aegis which had a 12″ zone is now just to the dreadnaught alone, with a re-roll of DTW. yes the only benefit we get is that we have a ton of dice one can roll and if they use santic power only which double 6′s puts us on the perils chart. we get the short end of the stick and to be honest if you played GK you would not be happy with the result thus far. Tournament organizers will punish GK even further with talks about having a max for warp pool dice. so please do spare my LOL at your comments that GK are better. we are weak and our powers from santic pretty much affect deamons. Last note was GK libbies knew the powers of the warp and the spells and just basically bought the power now we have to roll for them like we dont know how the warp works.

    GREY KNIGHTS FAQ are a mix bag of miscalculations and rules recognition problems from GW that seem no one is reading or rather has a lack of reading the material. While the old FAQ dealt with answering problems in the book and some limited 6th edition problems, this new FAQ brings back the same questions that are answered and says frack it you as the player figure it out. Where as many GK players are dismayed by certain power like warp quake and might of titans being taken away along with the aegis/reinforced aegis being nerfed and someone not understanding what the Armour does. I see that this brings forth an opportunity to discuss with either GW or Black library there understanding from the reading books to the codex understanding. I wont complain harshly, but GK are out numbered in many cases and lack many of the hard hitting functions a lot of the armies have on their own. You allow them certain functions but dont go all the way as being a pysker army.
