Warhammer 40K 7th Edition – The Price

Warhammer 40K Munitorum Edition

Soooo… there’s been a lot of talk about Warhammer 40K 7th Edition. The one thing that was always certain however, it won’t be cheap. Here’re the prices from the upcoming White Dwarf.

#1 – Warhammer 40K 7th Edition Price

Warhammer 40K 7th Edition Prices
Warhammer 40K 7th collector’s ‘Munitorum Edition’ £200,-
Warhammmer 40K 3 book slipcase (incl. rules) £50,-
Visions of the Dark Millenium (Artbook?, 144 pages) £45,

#2 – Thoughts?

The “basic” version, a 3-book set with slipcase, comes in at 50 quid. In comparison to the rest, it almost feels like a bargain.

On the other hand, you can splash out on the Limited Edition “Munitorum Edition” (picture above), which also comes with some added bits like the Psychic Cards and cards for Tactical Objectives, which are otherwise purchased in addition to the “regular” version.

Also, a Vision of the Dark Millenium artbook, 144 pages, for 45 quid. Is it the same as the artbook in the 3-book set? Probably not. Feels pricey for an artbook / picture book, especially if you get one anyways with the basic book.

I don’t think there will be an art book in the slipcase. The leaked images pin it as a “Hobby book,” which I assume will focus on painting and modeling. The Visions book will probably be art from the various codexes / expansions / supplements with maybe some previews of art in the upcoming releases. It’ll probably be like the Imperial Knights companion book. Very pretty, high quality, but ultimately not worth it unless you’re a big fan of 40k in general.

I really wish they sold the rules seperatly. But at least they’ll be some new fluff and a few good snaps of the new models :)

wait a week or two for the update dark vengeance, then hit ebay and get the mini rulebook for £5-£20

saves you getting 2 arts books that will gather dust

a seriously doubt the mini rulebook will be going for as low as that. theres little incentive for ‘bits’ retailers to be breaking down dark vengeance sets by this point beyond the rule books.

I saw this US pricing on a US blog. I don’t think I need to comment on pricing, it sort of is its own commentary at this point:

    40K 7th Edition 3 Volume Slipcover: $85

    Psychic Powers 50 Cards: $15

    Tactical Objectives 36 Cards: $8

    Munitorum Edition $360

The photo with the individual products and prices listed also includes an entry for a digital edition without the price attached.
Heres to hoping this is just the rulebook in digi format for £25-£30. Otherwise i’ll be passing.
Its been less than 2 years since i dropped £50-odd pounds on the book and a set of psychic cards, not spending another £59 now.
Id actually be surprised if id even played close to 50 games of 6th anyway.

What I dont get is the limited edition is $340, you can buy everything separately for about 200. (including visions, tactical cards and psychic cards) so its about 140 dollars for some brushed coins a map and a box. I like the idea of the limited edition but dont know if I can justify it …

Any intel on the starter set ? I’ve always gone with that since my thick and quickly useless 4th ed rulebook.
