The Ork Gorkanaut (and Morkanaut) are here, as are glimpses of the new Flash Gitz. To top it all off, there are a few more rumours about the new 7th Edition Ork Codex via Beasts of War.
Among the more interesting things is the idea of a whole new form of Detachment, which allows Orks to field a more “Horde-oriented” Battle-forged army in addition/as alternative to the “regular” Detachment of the 7th Edition Rulebook.
#1 – Beasts of War Ork Codex Rumours
Ork Horde Detachment
First up, the new Detachment for Orks. Warhammer 40K 7th Edition famously brought us the options of playing with either Unbound armies or Battle-forged armies.
Battle-forged armies, thus far, mostly reflect the standard FOC we’ve known from 6th Edition; 1 HQ, 2 Troops, many add-on options. If you stick with this “default” Battle-forged army from the 7th Edition rulebook, the army gains to Command Benefits:
- Ideal Mission Commander (Re-roll Warlord Trait table result)
- Objective Secured (Troops score even if other units without this rule are nearby)
Now, rumours by Bow have it that Orks (and thus probably all subsequent 7th Edition books, with Space Wolves being close), get a further, faction-unique type of detachment for playing Battle-forged (Ork) armies.
Ork Horde Detachment.
Minimum 1 HQ and 3 Troops (!). Additional options as usual, as well as possibly 6 more Troop choices (for a total of 9).
Command Benefits
- Boss of the Waaagh! (Re-roll Warlord Trait table result)
- Greenskin Horde (Every unit with 10 or more models gains Hammer of Wrath)
Ork Stompa in the Codex
Moreover, according to BoW, the Stompa is in the Ork Codex, and comes with 12 Hull Points (I am more skeptical about that one, but we’ll see).
Bikers no longer troops
Last but not least, Ork bikers (Nob bikers) are no longer available as troops.
Given how everything is scoring these days anyways, it would make sense to have fewer FoC-swaps and shenanigans, I suppose.
