I love having high-quality, miniature-wargaming related guest-posts on my blog!
Who wouldn’t?
I am proud to have had some awesome guest posts on my blog in the past.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the diversity of topics, opinions and styles of different authors is one of the greatest additions to my blog… to any blog.
That said, I get a lot of submissions that simply aren’t right for me or my blog.
I am going to try saving both you and me some time by writing down some guidance for the kind of guest posts and guest articles I would love to have.
These guidelines are just that: guidelines.
I may change these guidelines at any time and there is no guarantee that I publish your article.
#1 – The Topic
Guest posts should be related to miniature wargaming, possibly (miniature-focused) board-games, miniature painting, sculpting and other topics that relate to this hobby.
I am fairly open to the specifics. A painting article. A book review. Insights from an event. Etc.. .
I will not accept articles on topics unrelated to miniature wargaming. This includes articles on browser-games, apps, video-games, Kickstarter-campaigns unrelated to gaming, etc… .
There are great blogs out there that publish on these topics. PinsofWar.com is not one of them.
If you want to write an article for this blog, get in touch with me before you start writing.
#2 – The Rules
- The article should be written in English.
- The article should normally be between 600 and 1200 words long (painting guides and pic-heavy articles may differ).
- The article should have at least three parts: an introduction, a middle-section, a conclusion/wrap-up.
- The article should have a good headline.
- You’ll need to provide at least one picture/illustration for the article of at least 700 px in width.
- Photos of miniatures or games should be of decent quality.
Moreover
- The article should contain no profanity (Google hates it, and I like my search-rankings).
- The article itself should contain no self-serving or affiliate links, etc.. .
- The article should not only be advertisement for a product or Kickstarter-campaign.
- The article should not be published elsewhere (again, Google hates it).
- The article should not be a rant (stay positive!)!
- The pictures in the article should be unbranded… keep your logo out of it.
#3 – What’s in it for me?
Pins of War is slowly growing from a small to a more medium-sized blog with currently between 2500 and 3,500 unique visitors per day (~ 6,000 page views, though that can vary widely).
With a guest-post on Pins of War you can put your ideas, pictures or opinions before a good number of people.
Moreover, each guest article will have a little info-box on the author. The perfect way to promote
- your website,
- your facebook-page,
- your ebay-shop,
- your YouTube-channel,
- your Kickstarter-campaign,
- etc… .
You’re welcome to use keyword links for SEO, if that floats your boat.
Below is an example of such an info-box from a previous guest-post.
About the author:
Sean is the brains and talent behind BadAss Studios, a professional miniatures painting service in London. He’s also very fond of fluffy puppies. Follow his work on Facebook!
#4 – Regular Contribution
The holy grail would be people willing to commit to even more regular contributions (say ~ 1 article a month).
If you have a topic you want to write about on a regular basis, and don’t want to build and maintain your own blog from scratch (or, perhaps, even to promote your own blog), I’d be happy to set up an author box for you and, possibly, put your logo as a contributor on the front page.
If you’re interested, get in touch!
#5 - What Are You Waiting For?
Doe that sound like something you’d be interested in, let me know.
I am looking forward to your articles!
Z.
